Zombie Kitty Podcast 094: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 w/ Pirates of the Caribean clip

Where I eventually went to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2! Unfortunately, no guest on this one (there was supposed to be), but I still messily go through the plot while reading through the few notes I have, comment on the film’s character development and talk about the unexpected villain (in my opinion anyway).

I also talk about the ‘Pirates of the Caribean’ (at the time of recording) sneak peek in Trailer Talk and have a shoutout: Riku’s raving Hama Revolution (https://www.facebook.com/Rikus-raving-Hama-Revolution-713045415459992/)

Another Summer, Another Comic Con: My Weekend at MCM Comic Con 2017

So, firstly, apologies that this is late: I’ve been abit busy and had honestly forgotten about writing this up! Anyway, at the end of May, I did my annual trip to MCM London Comic Con which takes places at London ExCel Centre.

I always go all three days and this year was no exception, although I only did two cosplays this year: a Little Sister (Bioshock) and Crash Bandicoot.

my cosplays

Little Sister with the Big Daddy doll and Crash Bandicoot with a Wumpa Fruit. Crash Bandicoot photo taken by Ry-Spirit.

So firstly, I’m going to be typically British and say this: WHY IS IT SO BOILING EVERY MAY COMIC CON?! It was so hot! Thankfully there was air conditioning in the venue, so it wasn’t too bad…but I definitely roasted in the Crash cosplay haha!

As I’m writing this a couple of weeks later, this might be a bit of a rambling mess as I can’t remember what happened within each day, but I do remember the whole weekend as a whole (if that makes sense).

One of the main reasons I attend MCM Comic Con is for the cosplay and I saw some pretty cool ones this year. Unfortunately, not as many as in previous years, but they were still pretty cool, and made me really happy when I saw them.

Top L-R: Starlord (Guardians of the Galaxy), Lego Batman, Samus (Metroid), Kiki (Kiki’s Delivery Service), Spyro (Spyro the Dragon), Owen and Claire (Jurassic World), Circus Baby (FNaF: Sister Location), Ant Man. Bottom L-R: Darth Vader and Sith Lord Jar Jar Binks, Deadmau5, Rocket Raccoon (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Spiderman, Funtime Foxy (FNaF: Sister Location), Coraline, Gamora (Guardians of the Galaxy), Ballerina (Cabin in the Woods).

I will say that one cosplay, on the Saturday, pretty much made my day though and that was seeing someone cosplaying as Coco Bandicoot while I was cosplaying Crash. She walked past me as I was sitting down and, when I saw her, I ran towards her and apologized for not getting her the laptop battery (for those who don’t know, that’s a reference to Crash 2: Crash’s adventure basically starts because Coco tells him to get her a new battery for her laptop). She seemed really happy to see me, saying that she hadn’t seen a Crash Bandicoot cosplay yet and that no one had recognized her.

Crash and Coco Bandicoot reunite!!

I also attended a few panels at MCM. I had quite a big schedule for this year but, due to me socializing, I missed quite a few of them. The first panel I did go to was Universal’s panel on Friday, where they showed the trailers for Atomic Blonde, The Mummy and Despicable Me 3. At the end, they held a karoake-style competition, where you had to sing along with a minion clip…yes, I did get involved…and yes, I did mess it up! To be fair though, the clip we had to try and sing to was this:

The sing-along is from 0:00-1:08….Now do you understand why I didn’t do well? It was fun though and I was given a few items for taking part:

The other panel I attended was the Power Rangers panel, which featured the original Power Rangers(!). I grew up with the Power Rangers, so this panel was amazing for me.

Power Rangers

Unfortunately I was too star-struck to ask them a question, but the question I would’ve asked them is: if you could choose any Zord, what one would you choose to have?

The last panel I went to was on Sunday and was the Troma panel. This was a lot of fun and consisted of showing trailers for their upcoming films (Return of the Return of Nuke ‘Em High and Essex Space Bin) and a Q&A. I also got to meet Troma CEO Lloyd Kauffman and I was very star-struck, but he was wonderful and it was a pleasure to meet him 😀

And, just to finish off the article: my Comic Con purchases!

-Ry-Spirit. He drew the awesome Crash/Indiana Jones print that’s above. I spoke to him a couple of times during the convention, and still keep in contact with him. If you want to check out more of his artwork, his Deviant Art page is: http://ry-spirit.deviantart.com/

-Paul Elder is someone who I met up with during the convention and he also has a page called ‘Paul Elder Designs’. He makes amazing props from TV shows and films. If you want to check out his work, his website is here: http://www.paulelderdesign.com/

Zombie Kitty Podcast 093: The Void w/ Atomic Blonde Trailer

Where I finally watched a hyped horror film and then recorded an episode on it a week or so later, slightly dissapointed. I manage to remember most of the plot and messily go through it, read through my notes, say my issues with the film (there’s a few) as well the positives. I also talk about the Twitter poll for my 100th regular episode.

I also talk about the ‘Atomic Blonde’ trailer in Trailer Talk.

Zombie Kitty Podcast 091: Alien: Covenant (SPOILERS!) w/ Dunkirk full-length trailer

NOTE: I apologize for the bad audio in this episode. There’s quite a few crackles in this episode, which I couldn’t fix unfortunately.

Where I’ve finally seen Alien: Covenant which I’ve been looking forward to seeing. I record in a very noisy cinema foyer and comment on a stupid character, the plot and whether it was overall a good film. I also talk about Michael Fassbender and Katherine Waterstone’s characters and say which scene was my favourite. As a bonus, I also get distracted and comment on the trailers that are showing in the cinema foyer.

I also talk about the full trailer for ‘Dunkirk’ in Trailer Talk.

Zombie Kitty Podcast 090: Wonder Woman (SPOILERS!) w/ Dunkirk Trailer

Where I try recording outside and give my thoughts on the DC film before and after seeing it. No notes this time, and there is some crackling as I’m recording on my phone. However, please enjoy this rambling episode, where I praise it while also trying to think of anything negative to say about it.

I also talk about the ‘Dunkirk’ teaser in Trailer Talk.

PLEASE NOTE: The Twitter poll will be up on the week beginning 12th June 2017.
